One of my favorite songs at the moment is Trey Songz’s “Cant Be Friends,” lifted from his Passion, Pain & Pleasure album. It’s something about this song that really draws me to it. It’s honest yet sexy, sensual yet rugid. But Jazzy’s version of the song is just as good as the original — maybe even better. Jasmine “Jazzy” Bailey has been in the background singing behind folks like Melanie Fiona but now she’s ready to step out into the limelight. She’s released her debut mixtape Beauty & The Beat and with it, released this here cover of Trey’s “Can’t Be Friends”. The song sports the original piano driven production with flipped lyrics that tell the story or remorseful love from a female’s perspective. She beautifully conveys her feelings about getting love so good from her man’s best friend that she wishes her man would just ease on out of the picture, and it is nothing shy of brilliant. Her vocals are flawless and she gives the track a romantic and salacious appeal that I’m really digging. Press play on the track below and let me know if you’re feeling it.
