Latifah, that is! Queen Latifah’s debut album All Hail The Queen hit shelves Nov. 6th, 1989 and 20 years later the Queen is still dominating her reign. Now THAT is what you call longevity people! Since then, Queen has definitely made her imprint in the entertainment industry. Her work in music, film and television has earned her a Golden Globe award, two Screen Actor’s Guild Awards, two Image Awards, a Grammy Award, six additional Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award nomination and an Academy Award nomination. She’s been a rapper, an actress, a jazz singer and now returns to her roots in the rap game with her newest album Persona (which is available now in stores and on digital retailers).

Personally, I love me some Queen Latifah! She’s one of the few people in the entertainment industry that I would actually consider a mentor. She’s become successful despite the odds against her, the stereotypes and the haters! And for me, she’s allowed me to see what happens when you stay true to your passions, your convictions and what’s in your heart. You become unstoppable! Despite all the smack people like to talk, no one can dispute the fact that the Queen has staying power. She’s more than a triple threat…she’s just plain awesomeness (yea, I said it). I mean just check out some of her accomplishments since her emergence on the entertainment scene in 1989.
