I have a confession to make.
I love me some Jojo. Her soulful voice. Her raw talent. Couple those thing with the fact that if I close my eyes real hard I’d swear she was a sista. She sure sounds like she has a little more melanin in her skin than she does. I’m just saying. Regardless, I love her. She’s like a sweeter, less gritty version of Joss Stone (who shall be featured in a coming week I’m thinking).
Joanna Noëlle Blagden Levesque, the 18 year old singer/songwriter from Vermont found her claim to fame when she was discovered after appearing on the show America’s Most Talented Kids. She was signed to Blackground Records in 2003. Her debut single “Leave (Get Out)” was certified Gold and spent 5 weeks at #1 on Billboard’s Top 40 chart making her the youngest solo artist to have a number-one single in the United States. Recently, she entered a law suit against her label asking them to release her from her contract. It seems all disputes have been settled and her next studio album All I Want Is Everything will finally see the light of day sometime early next year.
Folks talk their junk about her remaking the ever so classic R&B hit “Weak” originally sung by SWV. But, I can’t lie. Her cover is just as good as the original. *runs and hides* I like it enough that you shall hear it today.
Enjoy this remade oldie yet still goodie and have a happy Monday!
