You ever had someone say something to you like “I dont know what it is, but theres something different about you?” Well, I dont know about you but I’ve heard it more than a few times. Or in my case, since my life is so hectic and I juggle several hats (oftentimes at once), the thing I hear most sounds more like “I dont know how you do [insert verb here] considering your a mom, and wife and work full time and enrolled in grad school”. To be totally honest, I’m not sure how I do it either. It sounds like a lot to me too now that I’m sitting here looking at it. I have to often say that its not by my own might that I do what I do how I do. You probably can say the same, I’m sure.
Regardless of who you consider to be your higher power or the spiritual force that guides you, I know who mine is. I have to give Him thanks daily for allowing me to not straight lose my mind on the regular! And that’s real talk. Anyway, I wanted to share with you the next single ‘God in Me’ from the gospel duo Mary Mary’s LP entitled “The Sound”. This track is pure fire! Seriously! It’s a nice mix of inspirational and a hard beat. It says everything I would want to say without being “preachy” and whatnot. What is that anyway…being preachy? Will I no longer be heard because I credit God as the source for my sanity and my strength? Does that name or reference turn people off the minute that its heard? Ugh… why is that? I swear, people need to back up off themselves sometimes and realize that its not all about you/them.
Tyler Perry’s story comes to mind as I write this. He attributes God to much of his success on stage and both the big and small screens – having come from literally nothing to becoming the sensation he is today. But, I find that in most of the interviews and articles written up about him, the fact that he credits God for his success is removed. Can it not be possible for people to believe that it was no power of his own that got him where he is? Hey, I believe it! Why you may ask, well I live it everday. Its not me that is the me you see — its the ‘God in me’.

It’s about the fact that no matter where you are in life you want your light to be able to be seen glowing fervently and for people to see beyond your bling and hear the song your inner man sings.
